WHY DETHATCH….?

Thatch is a layer of decomposing matter that is creating a barrier not allowing air and nutrients to get down to the grass root system. It is crucial to eliminate this barrier for long term
health of the lawn.

WHEN DO WE DETHATCH….?

Dethatching can be performed at any time. It is simply removing the decomposing materials from the lawn which is present at certain levels all of the time. Most people think it is an early spring or fall service. We at Green Side Up recommend dethatching be done prior to the start of the season so that all applications of fertilizer will be more effective. As the lawn comes out of dormancy more thatch is developed that will need to be removed.

HOW TO DETHATCH….?

At Green Side Up we realize dethatching should be a thorough process. We use portable machines, no bigger than the average lawn mower, to loosen the thatch in the turf. Green Side Up will then hand rake the entire lawn and dispose of the debris.
(We do not go into flower beds or other areas other than the turf)

THINGS TO CONSIDER….?

Once the dethatching in complete begin a complete lawn care program (For more details on our lawn care program please see the above tab)
All seed should be done in the fall, not spring or early season.
